Worse.... or better?
I'm working on a far more interesting poll, but it occured to me to wonder how Second Life is for you this year so far, as opposed to last year. I've tried to include an option to cover everyone, so we'll see how that goes.
These pages are history, and have moved.

We've gained some, we've lost some.
ReplyDeleteOn one hand, we've had some graphical updates coming onto the table (albeit not in a formal sense), new policies to deal with age old bugbears like landcutters, new ways of dealing with the fact that not everyone likes to be in proximity to some really wacky bedroom stuff...
On the other, debacles like the Resident's Choice Awards being flashmobbed, the impact of the real world's economic crisis on Second Life expenditures...
There's two sides to every coin. But I would be fascinated if at least one of the options on the poll wasn't represented. I would also be interested in the reasons for choices, if you folks would be so kind as to share.
I'm hoping that the four options give *every* SL user something to click. If not, let me know.
ReplyDeleteNext week, I'll see about running a second poll that breaks out what 'complicated' might involve.
Tomorrow, though (Tuesday, US time), I'm hoping to have a far more interesting poll to get your feedback on. Watch for it!
Although I cast my vote in regards to my SL experience, I just wanted to point out that I do also like pie.
ReplyDeleteNoted :) Perhaps we'll have a poll on pie :)
ReplyDeleteI know it's the popular thing to lament how terrible things are in SL, and how LL dream up new ways every day to abuse us all, but in all honesty, I must say I can't remember my last crash, or the last teleport that ended with my hair in my arse.
ReplyDeleteIs it perfect? By no means, and there is plenty of room for improvement. I'm watching the development of the separation of "adult" from "mature" content with concern, as an area filled with cultural ambiguity.
Yet, I have to say that, despite complications, SL is way better than it was a year or two ago, and that despite concurrency levels that would have made the infrastructure collapse just a few months ago.
I went with "It's more complicated than that." From a technical standpoint, it's definitely gotten better; from a policy and social standpoint, it's definitely gotten worse.
