No such thing... (II)

Well, the new signup figures for the following day are even higher. Even more interesting, I did a random sampling of new residents who mostly (I was able to get answers from 11 people, and 7 of those constitutes 'most' in my lexicon) said that the press articles about the security breach were responsible for them trying Second Life.

For example, this, this, this, this, this, this, this, this, and more...

Wow. Go figure.

21,255 new residents in a single day.

Today, new registrations are off, and there's an update. I'm not sure if today's numbers, when they become available will tell us anything useful.

  1. I wonder if many of those are just exising non-paying alts who either lied or cant remember their security questions? (along with the tyre-kickers who read the news) ?

    great comics btw.

  2. OK...since this is past the point where most people should have their passwords back, alts created by people that couldn't reset their passwords can't explain this. And since you have access to information I don't--namely, the population of the Help Islands and the fact that a fourth one had to be opened--I guess it's really true: "It doesn't matter what they say about you as long as they spell your name right."

  3. Well, I daresay there are still some folks in logon limbo - but yes, I spoke to new residents in person, and the majority answered that they had come because of the press articles.

And yes, they saw the irony of it.

  4. o WOW
been in live help almost all day, so I do know there are some still in logon limbo, but most do not hang around help island.
Hopefully these people will enjoy the second life they get, after the newest update :D

    *big hugs*
